Fear For Sale – Ten Years Later

Ten years ago to this month, in August of 2005, I released an album called Fear for Sale to the world. It was written in a high-rise flat in the capitol city of Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain in the summer of 2004. It is about my experiences while serving as a US Air Force Officer in Iraq, Kingdom of Bahrain, and Germany during the Second Iraq War, also known as Operation Iraqi Freedom.   I can’t help but listen to this album today and reflect upon ten years. What strikes me the most about every line of poetry in this album is that while the world has changed vastly on the surface level; the core social, economic, political, and human conditions and experience remain the same. We continually search for “A New Device”. It is one of my favorite tracks on the album.

You can purchase Fear for Sale at most major on-line retailers or on iTunes here FEAR FOR SALE on iTunes

“A New Device”

How long to float along
are you satisfied?
CNN, NBC give you what you need?
Warm inform me of all I need to know
Could we make and propagate
A new device
It feeds all the time
It doesn’t cost a dime
Just plug right
This is the beginning
And the end

Free days make the page
Of the morning papers
In the land, changing hands
It’s the same old man
Peaceful life, made to strife
Another war is on
Could we make and propagate
A New Device

It doesn’t cost a dime
Just plug right
This is the beginning
And the end
